A conference at the University of Chicago, March 2-4, 2012
Stanley Cavell's Aesthetics
Welcome!
Stanley Cavell's Aesthetics, a conference at the University of Chicago, will take place in Stuart and Harper Hall (on Friday, March 2nd) and in the Franke Institute Humanities Center at the Regenstein Library Building (Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4). A map of campus, as well as directions and useful information can be found in the main menu to the left. For additional details, please take a look at the list of participants and check out our Program.
The conference will have a workshop format: all papers will be distributed in advance (please see the Readings page for more detail) and the conference itself will consist entirely of discussion of the work of our primary participants. One session will be devoted to each paper. Each session will begin with some opening remarks by the author of the paper immediately followed by an open discussion.
The conference is organized by Prof. James Conant (University of Chicago), Prof. Christoph König (Universität Osnabrück), and Prof. David Wellbery (University of Chicago). It is jointly sponsored by: The Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung, The Franke Institute for the Humanities, The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on German Literature and Culture, and The Department of Philosophy.
If you have any questions or requests please refer them to Gilad Nir, the conference coordinator. To contact Gilad, complete the Registration Form and post your request in the comments section.
